CRIMINAL LAW
The Moity Law firm gladly undertakes the duty of defense to those in need.

Offenses in Louisiana's criminal law are generally broken down in felonies and misdemeanors. Felonies are those offenses that might require an accused to serve one year or more in prison at hard labor. Whereas, misdemeanors are generally those offenses that may require an individual to serve under one year at hard labor.

Like most other states, there are two requirements to be culpable of a criminal act. First there must be a mens rea (evil intent) which must be coupled with an actus rea(evil act). In most cases, there must be criminal intent coupled with criminal action.

Some of the public may not understand or respect the work of criminal defense attorneys. But be assured, this Firm embraces the duty to defend those that are charged with criminal offenses and to test the system to ensure that this each individual's constitutional protections are recognized and enforced.

This firm understands the human suffering that may follow a criminal charge. We know that bad things happen to good people every day.
